Paths in Beeston and Peckforton

Walkers should note that there have been recent substantial changes to the network of paths in the Beeston and Peckforton area.

These changes are in an area south of Beeston Castle and also in areas west and east of Peckforton Castle and are quite extensive. The changes are not yet recorded on the Explorer 1:25000 Ordnance Survey map (number 257 - "Crewe and Nantwich"). However, all of the paths are well waymarked on the ground and walkers should follow the waymarks rather than the routes on the Ordnance Survey map.

Details

The affected paths lie in three areas:

  1. In an area south of Beeston Castle and west of Peckforton Road - between Tattenhall Lane and Horsley Lane. Several diversions, two extinguishments and two new paths (following the east-west line of the brook).
  2. In an area west of Peckforton Castle and north of Pennsylvania Wood. Two major diversions.
  3. In an area east of Peckforton Castle and south of Peckforton Mere. Two major diversions.
